How can I convert.avis to.movs?

I’m trying to use iMovie to edit stuff captured on my Flip Video, but for some reason it’s not opening anything with an .avi format, which is the format the Flip saves in. I seem to remember getting it to work sometime before… but now I’m stumped.

    Use ULead Video Studio. It is a movie editing software that can convert AVI file to Quictime Movie File.

    It is not free though.
