How can I pay when I don’t have money to Avis rented car totally damaged in self-accident?

Hi, I am a Pakistani International Driver License holder and I rented AVIS car about a month back in a foreign country i.e. Dammam, Saudi Arabia. At the time of hiring, AVIS did not inform me anything about car insurance except asking me to sign the usual forms and giving my passport and driving license copy. After about 2 weeks of driving, I had a major self-accident on a highway where nobody else was involved. After about 3 days, my passport was confiscated by the sponsor here and I was charged with the TOTAL LOSS of the car i.e. US$12,000 which I don’t have in my pocket. What legal options do I have to come out of this situation. In Saudi Arabia, they imprison anyone for life time until you pay the amount. The car was rented on the letterhead of my sponsor company. But the sponsor has distanced himself from me looking at the possiblity of money involvement. Being broke, without visa, passport, shelter, food, what other options are left out there for me in Saudi Arabia?

You’re kidding, right? How did you plan to pay for a month’s worth of rental if you are so broke?
Sorry, unless you pay you are in big trouble, assuming this is a serious question.
