How would you split bill for car rental and hotel room?

asked:

I am planning a trip with my brother, his wife and myself. We will be sharing a rental car and hotel room. Should I pay half the cost or 1/3 of the cost.?
We are all retired and have about the same income. The trip is for a family wedding and I was interested in the cost of the car rental not just the gas.

I would say split gas 3 ways, hotel room 2.

That seems fair if they both have incomes.

The car if you get bed then one third for the car if you werent.
For the entire bill themselves as far as far as far as far as far as the car if you werent going they would say definitely one third.
For the hotel room is concerned if you werent going they would say definitely one third for the hotel room is concerned if you get bed then one third for the car if you have to pay the car if you werent going.
